The strongest cross-border market
Germany is, by number of delivered projects, MPIS's strongest cross-border market. Since 2017 we've delivered 22 projects in fourteen German cities — Berlin (office complex), Munich (Krauss-Maffei demolition + assembly), Hanover (Krauss-Maffei service), Bielefeld (UPS logistics), Köngen (Krauss-Maffei demolition), Neureichenau (Krauss-Maffei assembly), Sankt Augustin (Kühne industry), Schopfloch (Homag woodworking), Feuchtwangen (Rehau injection moulder), Crock (demolition), Geringswalde (Akon), Löhne (Nolte Küchen), Rastede and Augsburg (EDEKA + Cancom IT), Biberach an der Riß (M Tec), Niedernach and Unterbergen (Uniper hydroelectric plants), Gemünden am Main (Uniper PUKS demolition), Chemnitz (STC Spinnzwirn Evo Tape Line).
Regulatory framework — VDE plus DGUV plus Land BauO
Electrical installations in Germany follow VDE 0100 (the German implementation of DIN VDE 0100-410 et seq.), inspections follow DGUV Vorschrift 3 (Berufsgenossenschaft rules for checking electrical equipment). Building permits are handled by the Land BauO (Bayerische BauO, NRW BauO, Berliner BauO, etc.) — each of the 16 federal states has its own variant with a common basis in the MBO (Muster-Bauordnung).
For work in industrial settings, BetrSichV (Betriebssicherheitsverordnung) adds operational safety rules. For ATEX zones TRBS 2152 (technical rules for operational safety) is relevant, for pressure equipment BetrSichV annex 2.
Posted Workers — the process
For a Slovak supplier, posting employees to Germany means three steps: issuing the A1 certificate from the Slovak Social Insurance Agency (the e-Sociálka platform), pre-registration via the ZOLL Meldeportal Mindestlohn 14 days before work begins, and in some sectors an additional notification via Branche-spezifische Generalunternehmerhaftung (typically construction, meat processing — marginal for us). Pay must meet Mindestlohngesetz (currently €12.82/h gross, raised each year) and in construction also the zoned TV (Tarifvertrag) rates.
The cross-border accounting side — VAT is handled via the reverse-charge mechanism, we issue an invoice noting "Steuerschuldnerschaft des Leistungsempfängers" or "Umkehrung der Steuerschuldnerschaft nach § 13b UStG", the German client accounts for VAT themselves.
Specific regions and concentrated clients
Our strongest continuity is with **Krauss-Maffei** (injection moulding machines for the plastics industry) in Munich, Hanover, Köngen and Neureichenau — successively in 2018–2019 we ran demolitions, relocations and assemblies of their machines for various end customers in Europe. For **Uniper** in 2021–2022 we ran maintenance and demolitions on hydroelectric plants (Niedernach near Walchensee, Lechstaufe Unterbergen, Pumpenspeicher Gemünden am Main) — that was serious work on turbine assemblies of the Laufrad T3 type.
For **EDEKA** (Cancom IT division) we ran structured cabling and IT infrastructure for new stores in Rastede and Augsburg. For **STC Spinnzwirn** in Chemnitz, assembly of an Evo Tape line — textile machinery. For **Nolte Küchen** in Löhne (Westphalia), service work on a production line.
The Saxon semiconductor cluster
The most interesting segment of the German market for us is gradually opening up: the Saxon semiconductor cluster in Dresden. Infineon Dresden, GlobalFoundries, Bosch Dresden Wafer Fab, and from 2027 also TSMC Dresden (joint venture with Bosch + Infineon + NXP). Our work from Bavaria (the vacuum-mechatronic-de project 2023 — HV/UHV vacuum chambers for the semiconductor industry) is a relevant reference point precisely for this segment.
Our commuting relationship
From Prešov it's on average 9 to 13 hours' drive depending on destination. For most German projects we work on a 1- to 3-week reserve with accommodation. For new destination cities we often fly in via Krakow or Vienna with a strong local partner for transport from the airport.
Where not to ask us in Germany
We don't do general building deliveries (Bauträger). For these tasks, strong local firms with decades of experience in the MBO/BauO process operate in Germany and we have nothing to add. We also don't work with hydro plants over 50 MW in active operation (here for full-scope deliveries Voith, Andritz, Siemens Energy operate). For smaller maintenance and relocation segments (as we did for Uniper) we're realistically deliverable.
