Wrocław is today probably the most dynamic industrial hub in Central Europe — the LG Energy Solution gigafactory in Kobierzyce (the EU's largest EV battery factory), Volvo Buses Wrocław as the global plant for city and electric buses, ZF Group Wrocław for braking systems, plus the Toyota engine plant in surrounding Wałbrzych. Dolnośląskie as a region is for an integrator with an **Electro + Industry + Automation** profile a segment that has accelerated faster than any other Central European industrial cluster over the past five years.
LG Energy Solution Kobierzyce — gigafactory for EV batteries
LG Energy Solution in Kobierzyce (Dolnośląskie, 15 km south of Wrocław) is the EU's largest manufacturer of lithium-ion batteries for EVs — supplier to Volkswagen ID. series, Audi Q8 e-tron, Renault Mégane E-Tech, Volvo XC40 Recharge, Polestar 2. After expansions 2022–2025 the plant has annual capacity of 86 GWh, corresponding to roughly 1.2 million EVs. For an integrator it's an environment defining SOTA for **SiC power semi integration and high-voltage battery systems**.
Technically that means several layers. First, the production line for cathode/anode coating runs in a cleanroom environment with precise humidity control (sub-1% rH) and temperature — a segment where our specialisation in vacuum and cleanroom technologies (Edwards, Pfeiffer, Leybold, Camfil) meets direct demand. Second, integration of the production process into MES is at Tier-1 automotive supplier orbit level — IATF 16949 quality management, OPC UA backbone between lines, ISA-95 data integration with plant-wide ERP. Third, high-voltage battery electrics (sub-assembly testing at 800 V DC, EOL testing at various SOC levels) require specialised electrical installation — a segment where EPL Db classification and STN EN 60079 ATEX competence has natural application.
The UDT process is mandatory here for pressure equipment in the electrolyte supply, for lifting equipment in assembly halls, and for vacuum chambers in battery formation cells. For a Slovak supplier that means pre-contract verification via a certified UDT-rzeczoznawca — UDT Oddział Wrocław is the key partner here.
Volvo Buses Wrocław — city and electric buses
Volvo Buses Wrocław is the global Volvo Group centre for city buses 7900 (diesel + hybrid) and electric 7900 Electric. For Slovaks it's reference-interesting via the parallel with Volvo Trucks Žilina Region — the same Volvo Production System (VPS) audit framework, similar supplier chains, and similar integration logic into the global IT environment (SAP S/4HANA, ServiceNow workflows, Volvo Quality Management System).
For an integrator with an **Industry + Automation** profile (Sondermaschinenbau, robotic integration, MES) Volvo Buses Wrocław is a classic Tier-1 transport supplier segment. Our experience from the Slovak automotive orbit (VW Slovakia Bratislava, Magna Kechnec) fits without rework.
ZF Group Wrocław and WABCO — braking systems
ZF Group (after acquiring WABCO in 2020) operates production capacities in Wrocław for braking systems for trucks and buses — EBS (electronic braking system), ABS, traction control. For an integrator it's again a Tier-1 automotive supplier segment with VDA 6.3 audit framework, IATF 16949 quality management, and integration into the global ZF IT environment.
Toyota Wałbrzych + Jelcz-Laskowice — engines and gearboxes
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Poland operates engine production in Wałbrzych (75 km south-west of Wrocław) for Yaris Hybrid and gearbox production in Jelcz-Laskowice for the entire European Toyota orbit. The Toyota Production System (TPS) is reference-wise the strictest automotive audit framework — for an integrator that means a documentation layer at Tier-1 supplier orbit level with added TPS-specific PDCA cyclicity.
3M Wrocław — industrial specialties
3M Wrocław produces industrial adhesives, abrasive materials, and specialised semiconductor components. For an integrator 3M is interesting through the chemical-process layer — ATEX zones for organic solvents, precise temperature control for calendering processes, integration into the global 3M Manufacturing Execution System.
Our commuting relationship
From Prešov 6 hours by car — A4 via Krakow and Katowice to Wrocław. For Wrocław we work Monday-to-Friday mode with accommodation. For quick site visits by air via KSC → WRO (via Warsaw or Krakow, point-to-point about 5 hours). For long-term projects Wrocław is comparable to Brno or Vienna in terms of work cycle.
For Kobierzyce, Wałbrzych, Jelcz-Laskowice and broader Dolnośląskie geography we add 30–60 minutes of commute.
Which pillars fit best
For LG Energy Solution Kobierzyce and the EV battery cluster — **Electro + Automation + Industry** with SiC power semi and high-voltage battery specialisation. Here the UDT process is key and must be arranged through a local partner.
For Volvo Buses, ZF Group, Toyota Wałbrzych — **Industry + Automation + Electro**, the parallel of our Slovak automotive projects.
For 3M Wrocław — **Electro + Industry** with strong ATEX and chemical-process focus.
Conclusion
Wrocław is for us the most attractive Polish industrial market — the strongest EV battery concentration in the EU, an established automotive Tier-1 orbit, and continuous growth via German direct investments (3M, BMW contracts, Bosch). Not yet a delivered project — actively looking for the first client in the LG Energy Solution supplier orbit or in the Volvo Buses / ZF Group segment.
