Warsaw isn't a place of production in Poland — Warsaw is the place where decisions about where production happens are made. The headquarters of PKN ORLEN, ABB Sp. z o.o. as the European hub for all of Central Europe, Atman and Equinix WA1-WA3 data centres, banks, telecoms, R&D branches of global corporations. For us Warsaw is the typical decision node: the client sits in Mokotów or Wola, but the physical place of execution is in Płock, Jawor, Tychy or Wrocław.
PKN ORLEN and the petrochemical decision node
PKN ORLEN, headquartered in Warsaw, is the largest Central European petrochemical group — besides the main refinery in Płock (350 km north-west of Warsaw) it has owned Slovak Slovnaft since 2020 and Czech Unipetrol since 2005. For us that means a triangular reference geography: a technical solution we design in Bratislava for Slovnaft can be decided in Warsaw. That's the reality of the consolidated EU refinery market after the MOL-PKN restructuring.
For an integrator the ATEX context is important (Directive 2014/34/EU + Directive 1999/92/EC for operations). PKN ORLEN has zones 0, 1 and 2 across the whole petrochemical site in Płock, intrinsically safe equipment with EPL Ga/Gb classification is the norm, and every PLC update goes through SIL-3 hazard analysis (IEC 61511). Our specialisation in ATEX installation (STN EN 60079, EPL Gb/Db rating) meets the petrochemical audit framework OGP/IOGP that PKN applies to all suppliers. For Slovnaft we work under the same framework in the Bratislava Region.
ABB Sp. z o.o. — Central European hub
ABB has its headquarters in Warsaw for the Central European region — sales, project management, technical support for power substations, drives, robotics and electrical installation systems. For us ABB Warsaw is relevant via two vectors. First, as a client: ABB is building its own production capacity in PL (Kraków R&D, Aleksandrów Łódzki production) and internal IT infrastructure is an area of continuous demand. Second, as a technology partner: when we design a substation or UPS system for a Polish client, ABB Warsaw is often the source of technical support, certification and service contracts.
Data centres — Atman, Equinix, Polkomtel
Warsaw is the strongest data centre market in Central Europe after Frankfurt. Atman with three campuses in Warsaw (WAW-1, WAW-2, WAW-3) is the largest Polish neutral data centre operator. Equinix runs WA1, WA2 and WA3 as carrier-neutral exchange points for Central European telecoms. Polkomtel Plus DC serves its own mobile network plus third parties. For an integrator it's a Tier III and Tier IV environment with millisecond SLAs, PUE below 1.3 as standard, and rear-door HX cooling for IT racks over 30 kW as norm.
For us the relevant combination is **Data Centres + Software/AI**. For AI clusters we build NVIDIA HGX H200 and B200 infrastructure, Mellanox NDR InfiniBand, Slurm/Pyxis orchestration — exactly what Polish hyperscale clusters are starting to tackle. Our `ai-cluster-research-lab` project in Cluj-Napoca is reference-matched to the segment actively growing in Warsaw via Microsoft Azure Polish region, AWS Warsaw region and Google Cloud Polish edge deployments.
Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Poland Jawor — supplier vector
Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Poland in Jawor (Dolnośląskie, 300 km south-west of Warsaw) produces engines for the EQ portfolio and M252 4-cylinder engines. For the supplier orbit that decides in Warsaw and executes in Jawor, an integrator with an **Industry + Automation** profile is well placed — Sondermaschinenbau, special-purpose machines, robotic cells for engine assembly.
Our commuting relationship
From Prešov it's 6 hours by car via S19 to Lublin, then S17/A2 to Warsaw. For Warsaw we work Monday-to-Friday mode with accommodation. For quick site visits or audits we fly via KSC → WAW (Eurowings direct, 75 minutes) or via Krakow when the slot is more favourable.
In practice we keep a weekly contact rhythm with Warsaw clients with in-person consultations at 4–6 week intervals. Response time 24 hours on inquiries, 72 hours on a site visit. For long-term projects with physical place of execution outside Warsaw (Płock, Jawor, Tychy) we keep dual-channel communication: decision node in Warsaw + execution team on site.
UDT and Prawo budowlane in Warsaw
Warsaw as the capital has the strictest interpretation of Prawo budowlane (the 1994 act with a substantial 2024 revision) — the Mazowieckie voivodship building authority and Warsaw city authority apply warunki techniczne (technical conditions) conservatively, especially for object categories with higher fire-safety classification. The UDT process for pressure and lifting equipment is centralised in Warsaw via UDT Oddział Warszawa — for a Slovak supplier that means arranging UDT certification via a certified Polish UDT-rzeczoznawca before delivery.
Conclusion
In Warsaw they'll ask us two things: do you understand the international audit context, and can you work with a decision node separated from the place of execution? The answer is yes to both — our VW Slovakia / Slovnaft / Magna Kechnec profile shows exactly this experience. For Warsaw we don't yet have a delivered project, but we're actively looking for the first client in the data centre, AI infrastructure or PKN ORLEN-associated petrochemical orbit.
