Szczecin is the westernmost Polish regional capital — geographically closer to Berlin (140 km) than to Warsaw (520 km). Zachodniopomorskie as a region works in a Polish-German cross-border context: Schwerin Mecklenburg on the German side and the Berlin-Brandenburg metropolitan orbit are practically integrated with the Pomeranian industrial space. For an integrator it's a market with lower MPIS exposure, but with several technically interesting segments.
Cargotec Stocznia Szczecińska — MacGregor cranes
Cargotec (Finnish group) operates in Szczecin the production of MacGregor cranes for shipyards and offshore applications — deck cranes for commercial vessels, specialised lifting equipment for oil platforms, deck handling systems. For an integrator it's a segment with high regulatory demand — IACS classification (DNV, Lloyd's Register, Bureau Veritas), UDT certification for lifting equipment (mandatory in PL for all commercial applications), and marine-grade equipment with IP66 + corrosion resistance.
For us Cargotec is interesting through the **Industry + Electro** combination with marine-grade specialisation. The UDT process is key here — every crane must pass UDT inspection via a certified UDT-rzeczoznawca before leaving the factory, the nearest contact being UDT Oddział Szczecin.
Bridgestone Stargard Szczeciński — passenger tyres
Bridgestone operates in Stargard Szczeciński (35 km south of Szczecin) the production of passenger tyres for the Central European and Baltic markets. For an integrator it's a process industry with typical traits of rubber production — high-temperature zones (vulcanisation at 160–180 °C), ATEX zones for organic solvents in adhesives, and complex MES integration for tracking every tyre produced via RFID or barcode.
Our specialisation in EPL Db ATEX rating and robotic integration (KUKA, ABB for pick-and-place on vulcanisation lines) has natural application here.
Cross-border DE-PL context — Schwerin, Berlin-Brandenburg
Szczecin functions in a strong cross-border context. The Schwerin-Mecklenburg region with Bombardier Hennigsdorf nearby and the Berlin-Brandenburg metropolitan orbit are geographically closer than Poznań or Warsaw. For an integrator with cross-border competence (Slovak A1 paperwork, PIP registration in PL, parallel German Tätigkeitsanzeige for BG Bau or Soka-Bau), Szczecin is a natural hub for projects with physical place of execution in German Mecklenburg-Vorpommern but decision layer in Szczecin.
Espersen — fish products for EU retail
Espersen (Danish group) operates in the Pomeranian region the production of frozen fish products for EU retail — Aldi, Lidl, Tesco, Carrefour. For an integrator it's the FMCG food segment with typical traits: sanitary environment (HACCP), high packaging automation, and refrigeration infrastructure with precise temperature control (-25 °C ±1 °C in frozen zones).
The UDT process is mandatory here for refrigeration compressors and pressure vessels. Our specialisation in the Embraco/Nidec compressor segment (Košice) fits without major competence transfer.
Sleeve Polska Police — chemistry and fertilisers
Sleeve Polska (formerly Grupa Azoty Police) in Police (20 km north of Szczecin) is a manufacturer of chemicals and fertilisers — notably urea and complex NPK fertilisers. For an integrator it's a process chemical industry with ATEX zones (organic solvents), pressure reactor systems (mandatory UDT), and parallel Seveso III directive for higher-risk chemical equipment.
For core chemical engineering (reactor battery, synthesis, separation), local EPC competence is needed. For parallel electrical installation and automation of supporting processes, we're realistically positioned.
Our commuting relationship
From Prešov 11 hours by car — the most distant PL voivodship node. For Szczecin we go by air via KSC or KRK → BER (Berlin-Brandenburg) and then 140 km by car to Szczecin, or via WAW → SZZ. Point-to-point about 6 hours via Berlin or 7 hours via Warsaw.
For cross-border projects with physical place of execution in German Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (Schwerin, Greifswald, Rostock) we go via Berlin and add 60–90 minutes of commute.
Which pillars fit best
For Cargotec Stocznia Szczecińska — **Industry + Electro** with marine-grade equipment, UDT compliance, and IACS-friendly documentation.
For Bridgestone Stargard — **Industry + Automation + Electro** with rubber ATEX competence.
For Espersen — **Automation + Industry** with refrigeration specialisation, the parallel of our Embraco/Nidec profile.
For Sleeve Polska Police — **Electro + Industry** with strong ATEX and Seveso III competence for parallel infrastructure.
Conclusion
Szczecin is for us a lower-priority PL market — the most distant, the smallest industrial concentration among PL voivodship capitals. But via the cross-border DE-PL vector (Berlin-Brandenburg cluster) it can be a hub for projects with the decision layer in PL and physical place of execution in DE. Not yet a delivered project — passively open to interest via the cross-border supplier orbit.
