Nyíregyháza is geographically the second-closest Hungarian city to Prešov after Miskolc — two hours' commute via D1 and M3, making Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg megye effectively an extended eastern Slovak commuting zone. For an integrator it's attractive for three continuous demand points: Michelin, LEGO and ContiTech.
Michelin Hungaria Nyíregyháza — the largest HU tyre producer
Michelin Hungaria in Nyíregyháza is the largest tyre manufacturer in Hungary — the whole range for passenger, commercial and heavy vehicles, plus tyres for construction equipment. For an integrator it's a classic rubber industry with its own regulatory geography: vulcanisation presses at 150–180 °C temperatures, rubber solvent processes in controlled zones (some classified as ATEX zone 1 or 2), high-energy automation of tyre-building machines, and integration into the global Michelin Production System (MPS).
For us Michelin Nyíregyháza is typologically interesting via `automation` (PLC programming for tyre-building machines, SCADA supervision of cycle data, MES integration into Michelin MPS), `electro` (power and LV distribution for vulcanisation presses, ATEX cabling in solvent zones), and `industry` (mechanical integration for new lines and refit of existing ones). Our delivered `automotive-injection-line` project typologically matches this world.
LEGO Manufacturing Hungary — the largest LEGO factory outside Denmark
LEGO Manufacturing Hungary in Nyíregyháza is the largest LEGO Group production plant outside Denmark (Billund) — injection moulding of ABS plastic components, assembly into packaging, integration into the global LEGO logistics system. For an integrator it's a clientele with very specific technological demands: extremely high injection precision (tolerances under ±10 μm for LEGO click-fit components, requiring its own Engel and KraussMaffei injection lines with real-time process regulation), high-throughput packaging automation, and hygienically compatible environment (LEGO components are children's toys, IFS standard for the children's market).
For us LEGO Nyíregyháza is typologically interesting via `industry` (Sondermaschinenbau for custom packaging and assembly workstations, integration of Engel/KraussMaffei injection machines), `automation` (PLC for precise injection regulation, MES integration), and `electro` (LV distribution for high-current injection workstations). Our `automotive-injection-line` project fits typologically, only in the LEGO environment it's ABS instead of polypropylene or PA.
ContiTech Rubber Industrial Nyíregyháza
ContiTech (part of Continental Group) produces industrial rubber products in Nyíregyháza — conveyor belts, hoses, vibration dampers, technical rubber components for automotive and engineering. For an integrator it's a smaller but still fully regulated rubber operation — similar to Michelin, but with an industrial category of applications instead of tyres.
For us ContiTech is in the same category as Continental Púchov and Continental Automotive Kecskemét — known Continental audit regime, integration into the global Continental IT infrastructure, working language German plus English for international cooperation.
Eastern Sugar Hungary and food industry
Eastern Sugar Hungary (sugar refineries in the district) and Nestlé Hungária Csopaki complement the Nyíregyháza industrial profile via the food segment. For `electro` (cabinet hygiene, IP65/IP69K protection), `automation` (HACCP-compatible SCADA, traceability), and `industry` (mechanical maintenance of food lines) we're typologically prepared, but it isn't Nyíregyháza's main attraction — Michelin and LEGO are the primary targets.
Our commuting relationship
From Prešov to Nyíregyháza via D1 (Prešov–Košice) and M3 (Tornyosnémeti–Nyíregyháza) it's 120 minutes in ideal traffic, realistically 150 minutes. For Nyíregyháza and the whole Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg megye we're effectively local — we can be on site the same day, one-day trips are the norm for site visits and short audits. For continuous work at the Michelin or LEGO plant we'd standardly work Monday-to-Friday mode with accommodation in the city.
From the commuting geography standpoint, Nyíregyháza together with Miskolc is the most attractive Hungarian location for an eastern Slovak integrator — comparable to Uzhhorod or Mukachevo in time terms, only with better road infrastructure (M3 is fully motorway, unlike Ukrainian roads).
Language
Michelin Hungaria works in English regime at a higher level (Michelin Group international management from Clermont-Ferrand) plus Hungarian for the local operating team. LEGO Manufacturing in English regime with integrated linkage to Billund. ContiTech Nyíregyháza — primarily German with English project meetings for international cooperation. For formal documentation in Hungarian (EBVF inspection reports, IFS Food protocols, ITP/FAT/SAT in Hungarian regime) we use a partner HU translator.
Where we're opening up in Nyíregyháza
Michelin Hungaria — for tyre-building automation, ATEX cabling in solvent zones, MES integration into Michelin MPS.
LEGO Manufacturing Hungary — for custom Sondermaschinenbau, integration of Engel/KraussMaffei injection machines, high-throughput packaging workstations.
ContiTech Rubber Industrial — typologically matched with our Continental Púchov project (2025), `electro` and `automation` pillars.
Conclusion
Nyíregyháza is geographically the second-third most accessible Hungarian location for an eastern Slovak integrator after Miskolc and Debrecen — two hours' commute, local prices, continuous demand via Michelin, LEGO and ContiTech. For the first wave of HU expansion it belongs among the top three priority active targets. The first Hungarian project of MPIS will reasonably likely be decided in one of the Debrecen–Miskolc–Nyíregyháza triangle.
