Over the past fifteen years Kecskemét has transformed from an agricultural and wine town into one of the most important nodes of European automotive production. Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary produces in Kecskemét complete CLA, CLA Shooting Brake and EQB models for the whole EU and global markets — that's a plant categorically comparable to Bratislava (VW Slovakia) or Győr (Audi Hungaria).
Mercedes-Benz Manufacturing Hungary Kecskemét
Mercedes Kecskemét is technologically the most modern Mercedes-Benz Group plant outside Germany — press shop, body assembly, paint shop, assembly line, plus the EQB EV version with full integration of battery systems and e-drives. For an integrator that means Mercedes-Benz supplier audit regime with Sindelfingen rigour — NDA before first discussion, audit through Mercedes-Benz Sourcing Standards (MBS), integration into Mercedes IT environment (Daimler PartnerNet, MES via Mercedes proprietary platforms), working language EPLAN plus German.
For us Kecskemét is exactly the type of client where our references from the VW Slovakia orbit (Bratislava Region `automotive-injection-line` 2024) fit typologically. For Tier-2 press shop deliveries, robotic-cell integration (KUKA, ABB, FANUC, Yaskawa), MES integration via Apriso, OPC UA backbones between lines — we're exactly typologically prepared. For `industry` and `automation` pillars Mercedes Kecskemét is exactly the market where we can be a full Tier-2 supplier.
Knorr-Bremse Hungária Kecskemét — braking systems for Mercedes
Knorr-Bremse Hungária Kecskemét produces complete braking systems (notably for commercial vehicles, but also components for passenger Mercedes models) — pneumatic and electromechanical brakes, ABS/ESC modules, EBS systems. For an integrator it's a clientele categorically similar to Mercedes as a Tier-1 supplier with its own authority — own audit regime (Knorr-Bremse Supplier Excellence), own IT integration, but with natural linkage to Mercedes as primary customer.
For us Knorr-Bremse is interesting through automation of production workstations for braking components — high precision machining, integrated leak detection at parts-per-million level (braking systems must be absolutely leak-tight), AOI and X-ray inspection for critical parts.
Continental Automotive Kecskemét
Continental Automotive Kecskemét complements Mercedes and Knorr-Bremse via automotive electronics — control units, sensors, ADAS components. For Continental, Kecskemét is one of five Hungarian locations (together with Veszprém, Debrecen, Budapest and Vác). For us it's a client in the same category as Continental Púchov, where in 2025 we delivered complete electrical installation of a new production hall — known audit regime, integration into Continental IT, EPLAN as working language.
Strabag-MML Kecskemét — building structures
Strabag-MML Kecskemét supplies steel and building structures for the entire automotive supplier orbit around Mercedes. That's secondary demand opening naturally via the supplier map — when a new Mercedes hall or Knorr-Bremse production workstation is built, Strabag supplies the steel structure and we (or someone from local integrators) supply the electrical installation, IT cabling and automation inside.
Our commuting relationship
From Prešov to Kecskemét via D1 (Prešov–Košice) and M3/M5 (Tornyosnémeti–Budapest–Kecskemét) it's realistically 5 hours. For a one-day trip Kecskemét isn't an option — for us it's Monday morning, accommodation through Friday, standardly Monday-to-Friday mode with accommodation in the city or Budapest (45 km north).
Alternatively via Bratislava (4 hours D1) plus 200 km from BA to Kecskemét via M1/M5 — it's comparable, sometimes more efficient when the project runs in combination with BA clients.
Language
Mercedes Kecskemét works primarily in German — comfortable for us, better than English for Mercedes technical specifications, VDA 6.3 audit requirements and EPLAN documentation. Knorr-Bremse in German and English. Continental Kecskemét the same as Continental Púchov — primarily German with English project meetings for international cooperation. For formal documentation in Hungarian (EBVF inspection reports, ITP, FAT/SAT protocols) we use a partner HU translator.
Where we're opening up in Kecskemét
Mercedes Tier-2 supplier orbit — for Sondermaschinenbau, robotic-cell integration (KUKA, ABB, FANUC), MES integration, OPC UA backbones. Our `automotive-injection-line` project from 2024 fits typologically.
Knorr-Bremse Kecskemét — for QC automation, leak detection at ppm level, AOI/X-ray inspection.
Continental Automotive Kecskemét — typologically matched with our Continental Púchov project (2025).
Conclusion
Kecskemét is for us strategically the second-third most important Hungarian city for the `industry` and `automation` pillars — Mercedes is exactly the category of OEM where our VW Slovakia references and Continental Púchov project fit typologically. Commuting distance (5 hours from Prešov) is limiting, but Mercedes and Continental shift us via the German working environment into a more comfortable zone than Hungarian-language food or local clients.
