Valencia is for us in Comunitat Valenciana the main strategic node — Ford Almussafes in transformation to EV plant, Volkswagen Group Sagunto Battery Plant (€3 bn gigafactory ramping up in 2026), and Mercadona HQ, Spain's largest retailer. From Prešov it's a 4-hour flight via VIE to VLC Valencia. We have no overland commute — Valencia is exclusively an air market.
Ford Almussafes — EV transformation
Ford Almussafes (25 km south of Valencia) is one of the largest Ford plants in Europe — historically production of Kuga, Galaxy, S-Max and Mondeo, today in transformation to a European EV hub. Within the Ford Model e division, Almussafes is chosen as lead plant for the next generation of the Ford EV platform. For an integrator that means the same type of work as at VW Slovakia in Bratislava or SEAT Martorell — injection lines for interior parts, robotic integration for body shop, assembly stations for battery handling.
For us Ford Almussafes is a direct potential field for the transfer of our delivered `automotive-injection-line` project (Bratislava, 2024) — Engel, KraussMaffei and Yushin injection equipment under Siemens TIA Portal with Ignition SCADA supervision. Ford Production System (FPS) adds its own documentation layer — Process Vehicle Teardown audited specifications, Lean Six Sigma plus FQOS (Ford Quality Operating System).
The EV-specific scope adds high-voltage zones (battery pack assembly up to 800 V DC), intrinsic safety for Li-ion handling, and robot integration for precise handling of battery modules. Here Ford in Almussafes takes the role of lead plant for the whole European EV production.
VW Sagunto Battery Plant — gigafactory in ramp-up
VW Group Sagunto Battery Plant is a €3 bn gigafactory investment with planned ramp-up in 2026 — it will supply battery cells for the entire VW Group MEB Small platform (Cupra Born, Cupra Raval, VW ID.2, SEAT models). For an integrator with battery production expertise, it's a segment being built right now where the decision is being made who will be on the supplier list in the next decade.
The gigafactory scope means: cleanroom zones for cell assembly (ESD protocols, ISO Class 7-8 in active zones), electrode coating lines with extremely tight process control, formation and aging zones with thousands of parallel measurement channels, integration into the global VW BatteryManufacturingSystem.
For us there's an open field of work in Anlagenbau and robotic-cell integration layer. Without a delivered battery gigafactory project we don't yet have a direct reference, but we've done the same type of work in the automotive segment (Bratislava) and in cleanroom interface at Magna Kechnec (microchip vicinity). For Sagunto we're in early-stage relationship building phase.
Mercadona HQ and retail segment
Mercadona HQ in Tavernes Blanques (Valencia metro) is the command centre of Spain's largest retailer — 1,600 stores, own supplier chain, own IT infrastructure. For us it's relevant via the IT segment — data centre capacity for Mercadona Tech (own in-house digital team), structured cabling for new warehouses, integration of automated warehouses.
For smaller ES retail chains and logistics hubs around Valencia (Carrefour Logístico, DIA, Consum) we're directly deliverable via `packaging-relocation` (Košice, 2024) type work — relocation of packaging plant with RFID tagging, heavy-lift logistics.
Volvo Trucks Valencia, Reckitt Benckiser Cullera
Volvo Trucks Valencia is a manufacturer of bus chassis for the entire Volvo Bus Corporation. For us it's a pure automotive supplier orbit — the same type of work as Iveco Valladolid or Renault Trucks Seville.
Reckitt Benckiser Cullera (50 km from Valencia) is production of drugstore and disinfectant products — Lysol, Dettol, Vanish. Here we move in process production with ATEX zones for solvent operations and aerosol filling.
Regulatory framework — Comunitat Valenciana
Valencia adds a regional layer — Generalitat Valenciana maintains its own Conselleria d'Innovació, Indústria, Comerç i Turisme with regional installer authorisation. REBT (RD 842/2002) remains the base, UNE-HD 60364 and UNE-EN 60204-1 complement the machinery scope.
For EV battery operations ITC-BT-29 for special low-voltage environments is added, plus internal VW gigafactory specification. For building permits CTE plus Valencian decree, for inspections OCA accredited by ENAC.
Posted Workers — REC + Valencian copy
REC registration 5 days in advance remains national; for Catalonia and Euskadi an additional copy is mandatory, for Comunitat Valenciana the national REC suffices. Convenio Colectivo for the Metal Sector is at VW Sagunto and Ford Almussafes replaced by internal group KV with local exception.
Our commuting relationship
For Valencia we work exclusively by air. For Almussafes (25 km south) accommodation typically in Algemesí or Alzira. For Sagunto (28 km north) accommodation in Puzol or El Puig. Rolling-team regime for repeat cooperation, two-week minimum scope for calculating a profitable trip.
Which pillars fit best
For Ford Almussafes and VW Sagunto — **Industry + Automation + Electro**. Sondermaschinenbau, robotic-cell integration, EV battery handling, high-voltage intrinsic safety. Bratislava reference directly transferable, gigafactory scope is extended category.
For Mercadona and retail hubs — **Software/AI + Data Centres**. Structured cabling, automated warehouses, DCIM.
For Volvo Trucks, Reckitt — **Industry + Automation** with focus on process QC and ATEX zones.
Conclusion
Valencia is for us, after Pamplona, the second-strongest automotive EV strategic target in Spain. VW Sagunto ramp-up in 2026 is a segment we're actively mapping in the pre-engagement phase. For the first Valencia client we're ready with a rolling-team regime.
