Palma de Mallorca is for us in Illes Balears a strategically specific market — smaller in volume, but with its own island autonomous energy grid and specific off-grid regulations not seen elsewhere in Spain to this extent. From Prešov it's a 3-hour flight via VIE to PMI Palma. We have no overland commute — the Balearic Islands are exclusively an air market.
Endesa Mallorca — island energy infrastructure
Endesa Mallorca operates Mallorca's island energy grid — a combination of gas turbines at Cas Tresorer, cogeneration, photovoltaic parks and end distribution. For an integrator with expertise in renewable energy SCADA, SiC power semi inverter integration and battery storage, Mallorca is interesting precisely because the island grid has its own regulatory geography outside the peninsular grid code.
REE (Red Eléctrica de España) adds for the Balearics special procedimientos de operación for Sistemas Eléctricos No Peninsulares (SENP) — rules of island grid synchronisation, rules for maximum allowed renewable penetration, and specific requirements on battery storage as a stabilisation layer (frequency containment reserve, primary and secondary regulation).
For us Endesa Mallorca is a segment where we have transferable competencies from renewable energy SCADA work, but local SENP specification we must complete only at the first confirmed contact.
Bobbins MalPort, port of Palma
Port of Palma (Bobbins MalPort) is the main industrial port of the Balearics — a combination of commercial logistics, container terminal and cruise terminal for Mediterranean tourism. For an integrator it's relevant via Industry + Automation in the plane of port logistics — RFID tagging, automated warehouses, integration of heavy-lift logistics.
For us MalPort is a direct potential transfer of `packaging-relocation` (Košice, 2024) type work — relocation of a packaging plant with RFID tagging of precise goods movements.
Tirme — waste-to-energy
Tirme operates on Mallorca a waste-to-energy complex — a waste incinerator with cogeneration of electricity and heat, plus a modern materials sorting facility. For an integrator the segment is complex via the combination of ATEX zones (gas environments in process area), high-temperature zones (incinerator up to 1,100 °C) and integration into the island energy grid (Endesa Mallorca).
For us Tirme is interesting via the Electro + Industry pillar with focus on ATEX integration, SCADA for continuous process operations, and coordination with the grid operator for island stabilisation.
Galletas Inca, Cementos Lemona Mallorca
Galletas Inca (Inca, 30 km north-east of Palma) is a traditional Mallorcan biscuit manufacturer — process production with HACCP regime. For us directly deliverable via Industry + Automation.
Cementos Lemona Mallorca operates a cement plant for the local construction market — a client type comparable to Cemex Tenerife in the Canaries. For us it's relevant via process production and integration into island logistics.
Regulatory framework — Illes Balears
Mallorca operates under the national REBT (RD 842/2002), UNE-HD 60364 and UNE-EN 60204-1. Govern de les Illes Balears adds a regional authorisation layer via Conselleria d'Empresa, Ocupació i Energia — equipment registration via Boletín Oficial Illes Balears.
For energy REE procedimientos de operación for SENP (Sistemas Eléctricos No Peninsulares) are added — rules of synchronisation, maximum RES penetration, battery storage as stabilisation layer. This is a specific layer that in peninsular Spain doesn't exist to this extent.
For building permits CTE plus Balearic implementing decree. For inspections OCA accredited by ENAC. For documentation language for Mallorca castellano as well as català (Mallorcan dialect) is accepted — for official communication we accept both, technical documentation in ES + EN.
Posted Workers — REC for the Balearics
REC registration 5 days in advance remains national. For Illes Balears a regional copy isn't required, but for larger clients (Endesa Mallorca, Tirme) an internal compliance audit may be requested. SMI €1,184/month plus Convenio Colectivo Estatal de Industria.
Our commuting relationship
For Palma we work exclusively by air. Accommodation typically in Palma centre or in Manacor (for eastern locations). For Inca (Galletas Inca, 30 km) transport by car. Rolling-team regime for repeat cooperation, two-week minimum scope.
Which pillars fit best
For Endesa Mallorca and island energy — **Electro + Automation** with focus on renewable energy SCADA, battery storage for frequency containment, and integration into the SENP grid code. Here we're in a pre-engagement phase — SENP specification we complete only at the first confirmed contact.
For port MalPort and logistics — **Industry + Software/AI** with focus on RFID, automated warehouses, integration of heavy-lift logistics. The Košice reference is directly transferable.
For Tirme, Galletas Inca and process production — **Industry + Automation** with focus on ATEX, HACCP and integration into the island grid.
Conclusion
Mallorca is for us a specific market — smaller in volume, but with a unique island regulatory layer for energy. Without a delivered Mallorca project we don't yet have a local name, but transferable competencies from renewable energy and process automation are ready. For the first Balearic client we're ready with a rolling-team regime with addition of SENP specification according to specific scope.
