The Olomouc Region is technologically underrated — at a glance it looks like the agricultural Haná plain, but industrially three segments with global reach are based here: Honeywell Aerospace Olomouc (turbochargers for passenger cars in the global Tier-1 manufacturer ranking), Meopta-optika Přerov (laboratory and military optics with customers like the Bundeswehr and IDF), and John Crane Sigma Lutín (mechanical seals for petrochemicals and rotating machinery). For an integrator that means a triple regulatory geography in one region — IATF 16949 for Honeywell, ITAR/EAR and military certifications for Meopta, ASME/API for John Crane.
Honeywell Aerospace Olomouc — turbochargers on the global scale
Honeywell Aerospace Olomouc (the plant in Hranice near Olomouc) is one of the global centres of Honeywell Garrett Motion Solutions — producing turbochargers for passenger cars, light commercial vehicles and commercial trucks. The current portfolio includes the VNT (Variable Nozzle Turbocharger), e-Boost (electrically-assisted turbocharger) and components for hydrogen fuel-cell systems.
For an integrator this environment is defined by a combination of IATF 16949 (automotive QMS) and internal Honeywell SPS (six-sigma based production system). A supplier has to be ready for: PPAP via the Honeywell SupplyOn portal, FMEA with a full cause-effect line of analysis, OEE benchmark against the parent plant (Garrett Motion globally). For us this environment is familiar via Honeywell ACS Prague — same ritual, different product.
Honeywell Aerospace Olomouc is attractive to an integrator through precision turbine metrology — a turbocharger is a rotating device with rotor tolerances in tens of micrometres, balancing in milligrams, and a pressure test of every unit before dispatch. That means: integration of test rigs into MES, AOI inspection of joints, and full RFID traceability of every unit.
Meopta-optika Přerov — laboratory and military optics
Meopta in Přerov (35 km south of Olomouc) is a manufacturer of precision optics with a tradition since 1933. The current portfolio includes laboratory optics (microscope objectives for medical and scientific applications), military optics (sights for the Bundeswehr, IDF, several NATO armies), and commercial rifle scopes for the hunting and sporting market (Meopta MeoStar, Meopro).
For an integrator Meopta is an atypical environment — a combination of precision optical production (grinding and polishing of lenses with λ/10 accuracy), clean environments (cleanroom ISO 6 for assembly of optical systems), and ITAR/EAR regime for the military segment (export-controlled material requires a full documentation trail). For us the military segment is realistically out of reach (requires a special security clearance from NBÚ ČR), but the civilian segment is reachable — cleanroom installation, integration of precision measurement rigs, CNC-controlled grinding machines (Optotech or Sinclair).
John Crane Sigma Lutín — mechanical seals for rotating machinery
John Crane Sigma in Lutín (12 km south of Olomouc) is a global manufacturer of mechanical seals for pumps, compressors, mixers and turbines — primarily for petrochemicals, energy and pulp. For an integrator it's classic ASME and API (American Petroleum Institute) environment with full metrological overlay. Every seal undergoes individual pressure testing, vibration analysis and thermo-cycling testing before dispatch.
For us John Crane is interesting through automation of test rigs — vibration measurement via Brüel & Kjær or PCB Piezotronics, pressure testing via Burster or Druck, integration into MES (mostly SAP ME). That's exactly the type of project handled via the Software/AI pillar — when you have 12 test rigs running in parallel, the question becomes: how do you speed up real-time processing of data from tens of channels and categorise items by pass/fail criteria?
Hanácká kyselka, TON, Kofola
Hanácká kyselka and Kofola (Krnov, technically Moravian-Silesian Region but the supply chain is linked) are non-alcoholic beverage producers. For an integrator it's a food application — HACCP, sanitary zones CIP/SIP, integration of fillers (Krones, Sidel), MES integration.
TON in Bystřice pod Hostýnem produces bentwood furniture with a tradition since 1861 (formerly Thonet, one of the first bentwood furniture makers in Europe). An atypical environment — precision woodworking combined with steam-shaped beech.
Our commuting relationship
From Prešov to Olomouc is 3 hours' drive on the D1 via Žilina. **Olomouc is the closest regional capital in CZ for us after Ostrava** — significantly closer than Brno (4 h) or Prague (6.5 h). For the Olomouc Region we operate on a one-day or two-day rhythm without overnight stays.
We don't yet have a directly delivered project in the Olomouc Region. Our references from `magna-kechnec` (2024, Slovakia — structured cabling, optical backbone, Kardex warehouse integration) and `automotive-injection-line` (Bratislava, Stellantis supplier orbit) are directly transferable to the Honeywell Aerospace Olomouc supplier orbit.
Which pillars fit best
For Honeywell Aerospace Olomouc — **Industry + Automation + Software/AI**. Test rigs for turbochargers, calibration of balancing rigs, integration with Honeywell MES, AOI/X-ray inspection, RFID traceability. Our specialisation in KUKA, FANUC robotics, Beckhoff TwinCAT motion control and OPC UA backbone is directly relevant to the Honeywell supplier orbit.
For Meopta-optika (civilian segment) — **Industry** with cleanroom and precision optical overlay. Cleanroom ISO 6, integration of precision measurement rigs, CNC-controlled grinding machines. We don't supply the military segment directly.
For John Crane Sigma — **Industry + Automation + Software/AI**. Test rigs for mechanical seals, vibration analysis, integration with SAP ME. Here our stack from `ai-agent-firm-insurance` (Frankfurt) — LangGraph + vLLM for data analysis of test results.
For the food segment (Hanácká kyselka, Kofola) — **Industry + Automation** with HACCP overlay.
Conclusion
The Olomouc Region is technically the most favourable Czech region for us after Moravian-Silesia — shorter commute, natural supplier continuity with the Košice and Žilina regions, and three strong industrial cores (Honeywell, Meopta, John Crane) with global reach. Response time for a site visit in the Olomouc Region is 48 hours.
