The South Bohemia Region has two strong industrial cores (Bosch České Budějovice + ČEZ Temelín), traditional Czech food industry (Madeta, Budějovický Budvar), and an extensive automotive supplier chain linked mainly to the Bavarian market (Audi Ingolstadt, BMW Munich, Continental). For an integrator that means a supplier environment that interlocks with Bavaria more strongly than with the rest of Czechia.
Bosch České Budějovice — injection systems and industrial discs
Bosch has two distinct plants in České Budějovice. Bosch Diesel České Budějovice produces injection systems for diesel engines — high-pressure pumps, common-rail components, parts of the CRDI portfolio complementing production from Jihlava. For an integrator it's an identical Bosch Production System (BPS) ritual as in Jihlava — Bosch SupplyOn supplier portal, PPAP, FMEA, AS9100-like documentation discipline.
Robert Bosch in České Budějovice produces industrial discs and special abrasive tools — that's a different segment from automotive Bosch Diesel, closer to classic engineering. For an integrator it's automated pressing production with a precision measurement overlay (3D coordinate measuring machine Zeiss CONTURA or Mitutoyo Crysta-Apex).
ČEZ Temelín — 2 VVER-1000 reactors and planned expansion
JEDP Temelín has 2 VVER-1000/320 reactors (Temelín 1 in operation since 2002, Temelín 2 since 2003) with a total installed capacity of 2,160 MW. Together with Dukovany it forms the nuclear backbone of Czech energy — about 38% of the entire CZ consumption. ČEZ plans two potential new blocks for Temelín — Temelín 3 and 4 — but currently the construction of Dukovany 5 is prioritised.
For an integrator, Temelín is an environment identical to Dukovany in terms of regulatory framework — SÚJB perimeter, ČEZ-IMS QMS, Decree 263/2016 Coll. The difference is the supplier orbit — Temelín was originally built with Westinghouse technology for I&C (Instrumentation & Control) systems, so part of the supplier orbit differs from Dukovany. The current modernisation programme (raising output from 1,000 MW to 1,075 MW per block via turbine and generator replacement) is run via Doosan Škoda Power, Vítkovice Power Engineering and ČEZ ENERGOSERVIS.
For us the realistic zone in the Temelín nuclear circuit is the same as in Dukovany — administrative IT, mechanical work outside the perimeter, NDT installation for QA segments. For core nuclear equipment via a subcontractor model.
Madeta and Budějovický Budvar — food cluster
Madeta in České Budějovice is the largest Czech dairy group — about 20% of the Czech market in milk, dairy products and cheese. For an integrator it's a food application with HACCP regime, sanitary zones, MES integration (mostly Wonderware InTouch or Krones Site Manager for fillers), and precise cold chain tracking (CCP — Critical Control Points for heat-processing).
Budějovický Budvar is a national enterprise producing the original Budvar lager — annual production around 1.7 million hectolitres. For an integrator it's a classic brewing application — fermentation tanks with temperature regulation, fillers (Krones), MES integration, sanitary zones CIP/SIP.
Motor Jikov Group — foundry and machining
Motor Jikov in České Budějovice is a foundry and machining centre for the automotive supplier orbit — engine blocks, castings for BMW, Mercedes, Audi. For an integrator it's a classic IATF 16949 environment with die-casting machines (mostly Bühler or Frech), CNC machining centres (DMG MORI, Mazak), and integration with SAP ME or Wonderware MES.
Cross-border vector — Bavaria
The South Bohemia Region has 200 km of shared border with Bavaria. For local suppliers that means most automotive supplier connections go south, not north to Prague. Audi Ingolstadt, BMW Munich, BMW Dingolfing, Continental Regensburg — these are the primary Tier-0 customers the Czech supplier orbit in South Bohemia is tied to.
For us this is relevant via our German references — UPS Bielefeld (2017), Berlin office complex (2018), the Krauss-Maffei series (Munich, Köngen, Neureichenau, Hanover 2018), Kühne Sankt Augustin (2019), Homag Schopfloch (2019), Rehau Feuchtwangen (2019), Uniper hydro plant projects 2021-2022, Akon Geringswalde, M Tec Biberach (2022), STC Spinnzwirn Chemnitz (2022), Nolte Küchen Löhne (2022), Vacuum-Mechatronic-DE (2023, Bavaria under NDA), AI Agent Firm Insurance Frankfurt (2025). For South Bohemia we have one of the strongest reference packages among Czech regions — precisely because we've physically worked in Bavaria since 2017.
Our commuting relationship
From Prešov to České Budějovice is 7.5 hours' drive on the D1 via Brno and Prague. For České Budějovice we maintain Monday-to-Friday mode with accommodation. By air via Krakow (KRK → PRG + car Prague → ČB, 5 hours total) is often faster than the combined drive.
We don't yet have a directly delivered project in České Budějovice. For the Audi/BMW/Continental supplier orbit we have strong German references (Bavaria via Vacuum-Mechatronic-DE 2023 and the Krauss-Maffei series 2018-2019) that are technologically directly relevant.
Which pillars fit best
For Bosch České Budějovice — **Industry + Automation + Software/AI**. Bosch Production System ritual, MES integration, calibration rigs, AOI/X-ray inspection, RFID traceability. Identical stack as for Bosch Jihlava.
For ČEZ Temelín — **Electro + Data Centres in the "cold zone"** + subcontractor model for the nuclear perimeter.
For Madeta and Budvar — **Industry + Automation** with HACCP overlay. Sanitary zones, integration of fillers (Krones), MES integration, CCP tracking.
For Motor Jikov and the automotive supplier orbit — **Industry + Automation + Electro**. IATF 16949 documentation regime, CNC machining, robotic integration, MES integration.
Conclusion
South Bohemia has the strongest cross-border dynamic with Bavaria of all Czech regions. For us that's a good combination — our German reference base (10+ projects in Bavaria, Saxony, Baden-Württemberg) is directly relevant here, and the CZ cross-border regime is administratively trivial. Response time for a site visit in South Bohemia is 5 working days.
